The Missouri Pork Association is committed to the future leaders in the world of agriculture. One way that we further this commitment is through our intern program. The intern program involves off-campus training to  develop personal, organizational and public relations skills and experience. Three internship positions are offered – spring, summer and fall.

Important Dates: November 1, 2013 – Deadline to file applications and three letters of  recommendation November 18, 2013 – Internship selections made

Compensation/Credit  Hours:

Spring & Fall Semester Interns – Each intern will be paid $300 on the 15th and last day of each month for the internship period, based on working an  average of 15 hours per week. MPA will work with the student and their advisor  to secure credit hours if it is so desired.

Summer Semester Intern – The summer intern  is a full time position (40 hours per week). The intern will receive $800 on the 15th and last day of each month during the internship period. MPA will work with the student and their advisor to secure credit hours if it is so desired.

Prerequisites: The student must have junior standing and advisor’s consent, with a cumulative GPA of 2.5.

Brief Listing of  Activities:

Spring Semester Intern – Manage the Missouri Pork Expo live and silent auctions and assist with In the Show Ring Scavenger Hunt, plan MPA participation in Ag Day Pizza Party, attend Taste of Elegance events, assist with other necessary projects.

Summer Intern – Attend World Pork Expo in Des Moines, Iowa, manage the Missouri Pork Institute, manage all aspects of the Missouri Pork Association’s annual Veterinarian Seminar and the Missouri Pork Classic Golf Tournament, attend and participate in various events during the Missouri State Fair, and assist in planning Lunch and Learn events.

Fall Semester Intern – Manage MPA participation at the American Royal World of Agriculture, assist with membership drive and educational events, write articles for Missouri Pork Today annual  magazine, assist in activities during October Pork Month, conduct cooking demonstrations, assist with FFA Pork Speaking Contest, and attend Taste of Elegance events.
