Colorado Pork Producers Council is a livestock organization whose goal is to provide a unified voice for pig farmers leading the way in promoting, educating, and providing visibility and transparency of the industry to all of Colorado.

In 2018, the Colorado Pork Producers Council went through a strategic planning process. Below are the goals that were set out by our producer members.

Increase organizational visibility that results in being a trusted, respected, credible source of information.

Increase organizational visibility with governing entities that results in being a trusted, respected, credible source of information that allows to be proactive verses reactive.

Education of youth as well as current and future producers to ensure long-term sustainability of the pork industry in Colorado.

Reach out to consumers with a unified voice to communicate sustainable pig farming and the nutritional value of pork.

Colorado Pork Producers Ambassador/Internship/Program Assistant

🌟 Overview

The Colorado Pork Producers Council (CPPC) is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic student to serve as the Colorado Pork Producers Ambassador/Intern/Program Assistant. This position offers a unique, hands-on opportunity for an aspiring agriculture professional to gain valuable experience, develop strong leadership and communication skills, and become an influential advocate for the Colorado pork industry. The Ambassador/Intern will serve as an official representative for the CPPC and will play a critical role in promoting pork products, educating consumers, and engaging with producers across the state.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

The Ambassador/Intern will work closely with the CPPC board and staff, with duties including, but not limited to:

* Industry Promotion and Outreach: Serve as the public face of the CPPC at various events, including the Colorado State Fair, producer meetings, educational seminars, and community events.

* Consumer Education: Conduct presentations, demonstrations (e.g., cooking, industry facts), and engaging activities to inform the public, students, and educators about modern pork production, nutritional facts, and food safety.

* Producer Relations: Interact with Colorado pork producers and allied industry professionals to understand their needs, share CPPC resources, and assist in coordinating producer education and quality assurance programs (e.g., PQA Plus).

* Communication:

* Utilize social media platforms (as outlined in the application) to create engaging content and effectively communicate industry messages.

* Draft articles, blog posts, and reports on activities and industry topics for CPPC publications and the website.

* Seek out and participate in media interviews (radio, newspaper, online) to promote the industry.

* Project Support: Assist CPPC staff with administrative tasks, event planning, and special projects as assigned.

* Reporting: Submit regular activity reports and a comprehensive final report detailing accomplishments, contacts, and recommendations for future program direction.

📜 Qualifications

Required

* Must be a college-aged student currently enrolled in an accredited technical school, community college, or four-year university, preferably in an agriculture, communications, public relations, or related field.

* Demonstrate a strong interest and positive outlook toward the pork and broader agriculture industries.

* Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to speak confidently in front of diverse audiences.

* Be self-motivated, dependable, and professional.

* Willingness to travel throughout Colorado and attend required events, including some nights and weekends. Must have reliable transportation.

* Proficiency in common computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite, Email).

Preferred

* Prior involvement in the pork industry, FFA, 4-H, or other agricultural youth organizations.

* Familiarity with various social media platforms and content creation.

* Basic knowledge of current pork industry issues and organizational goals.

💰 Compensation & Benefits

* A monthly salary and mileage will be compensated.  This position will be from May until August and there is potential for a remote part time job opportunity from January until April and September until December for the right candidate.
