On March 16 in Washington, D.C., the National Pork Board is underwriting, “Resistance: The Antibiotics Challenge” with The Atlantic Monthly Group, publisher of The Atlantic. The 2 ½-hour forum will bring together key leaders for a wide-ranging discussion about antibiotic resistance and the continuous improvement the U.S. livestock industry is making to ensure responsible antibiotic use.

The discussion will include a 360-degree perspective on the use of antibiotics and what can be done to address concerns about resistance, and our pork industry will have a voice in that conversation.

We invite and encourage you and your members to participate in this dialogue in a number of ways:

  • If you’ll be in the D.C. area on Wednesday and would like to attend the forum, please click here.
  • You can watch the forum via live webcast (8:30-10:30 a.m. EDT on March 16) by clicking here.
  • Join the social media discussion of this important issue via Twitter at #ATLAntibiotics and @Atlantic_LIVE. We, along with other industry entities, want to trend this discussion with a positive image of the industry. With your help, we can achieve this.

Additional information on the forum can be found on the attached flier, and we have developed other resources available via www.porkcares.org/antibiotics, including this 2-page handout.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We will be watching from Des Moines!

Thank you,
